The absence of a physical ground isn't going to deter us from organising the long awaited-sports events! This year, though, we're documenting all sports with video. Sports Maestros, do you have what it takes to go up against our challenges? Here’s your chance to showcase your sporting abilities and

skills in this year's edition of VIVUM Sports!

 

Trojan’s Cup is a series of competitive challenges covering Football, Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball, Badminton, Cricket, Hockey, and Fitness to allow all sportspeople alike to display their talents in their respective sports. Events in each sport will be judged based on specific criteria, rules, and

regulations which will be sent to each school registering for the Trojan’s Cup. In order to register, please contact your school administration.

Registration: 10 Participants (Maximum) from Each School for football, basketball and fitness.

BADMINTON

Overview:

The participant will be given 1 minute  to toss and catch a shuttle on their racket as many times as possible while limiting the number of drops. Points are awarded for successful catches while deducted for drops. 

 

Rules:

  1. The participant may use any Badminton racquet of their choosing. 

  2. The participant must use a  feather or plastic shuttle.

  3. During the toss, the shuttle will have to leave the surface of the racquet for the point to be counted.

  4. The participant will have to remain standing in a single location while completing the challenge.

  5. 1 minute will be given to make as many successful catches as possible. 

  6. The ‘catch’ can only be counted for a point if there is no indication of the shuttle bouncing on the racquet. It has to be caught smoothly.

  7. A point will be awarded for every successful toss and catch. 

  8. Points will be deducted if the shuttle is dropped.

  9. No points will be deducted if the shuttle touches the ceiling.

  10. Refer to the general rules for guidelines on positioning; the participant should follow them accordingly.

  11. Refer to the general rules for timing guidelines; the participant should follow them accordingly

General rules: 

  1. Video must be taken in a well lit setting.

  2. An open and vacant space is suggested to prevent injuries. 

  3. If any malpractice is suspected, the contestant will be immediately disqualified.

  4. Equipment of the sizes specified must be used.

  5. For any doubts as to how to do the activity, please view the Instruction Videos on our website.

  6. Timing/timer: A timer on your phone will be required and should be visible on screen throughout the given time. If a timer is not available at hand, some other form of proof of timing must be present (for example a smartphone or online stopwatch).

  7. If the participant is in progress of completing a repetition when the time allotted ends, it will not be taken into consideration. 

  8. Positioning: Participants are expected to remain in the frame at all times. Any actions performed outside of the frame will not be counted toward the final tally.

GENERAL RULES

BASKETBALL

Event 1 - Tennis Ball Challenge

 

Overview: 

The participant will be given 30 seconds to throw and catch a tennis ball in their preferred hand and dribble the basketball with the other.

Rules:

  1. The participant must only use a size 6 or 7 basketball.

  2. The participant may not, at any point in the video, stop dribbling.

  3. The participant will be judged on the number of times they throw the tennis ball in the air. 

  4. Refer to the general rules for timing guidelines; participants should follow them accordingly.

  5. There is no restriction on the height of the ball when throwing it.

  6. No extra points will be awarded for the speed of the dribble. The parameter is for the dribble to be continuous.  

  7. 30 seconds will be given to throw the tennis ball as many times as possible.

  8. Refer to the general rules for guidelines on positioning and the participant should follow them accordingly.

 

Event 2 - Through the leg dribble

 

Overview: 

The participant is to perform crossovers through the legs alternatively through the legs for 30 seconds.

 

Rules:

  1. The participant must only use a size 6 or 7 basketball.

  2. No points are deducted for fumbling the ball however you may not stop the timer at any point in the video.  

  3. The participants form must be correct and replicate the form shown in the reference video.

  4. A dribble through the legs with the left leg in front followed by a dribble through the legs with the right leg in front will award the participant 1 point.

  5. The participant will be awarded points for the number of crossovers through the legs executed within 30 seconds. 

  6. Refer to the general rules for timing guidelines; the participant should follow them accordingly. 

  7. Refer to the general rules for guidelines on positioning; the participant should follow them accordingly.

CRICKET

Overview:

The participant will  have to perform the most number of bounces on the side of a cricket bat (side taps) with a tennis ball in the given time of 30 seconds. Winner will be decided with the highest number of eligible juggles in the 30 second time frame.

 

Rules:

  1. Participants must use a tennis ball.

  2. Participants may only use one bat and one hand. 

  3. The ball cannot touch any part of the participant’s body

  4. The ball cannot touch any part of the bat apart from its side.

  5. Refer to the general rules for guidelines on positioning; the participant should follow them accordingly.

  6. Refer to the general rules for timing guidelines; the participant should follow them accordingly

  7. The participant is given 30 seconds to do as many reps as possible.

  8. Any juggles beyond 30 seconds after starting will not be considered

  9. If the ball is dropped, it can be picked up and the participant can continue.

FITNESS

Overview: 

The participant must obtain the most number of points they can by performing the most number of pushups in the given time of 30 seconds. There are different variations of pushups that can be performed which will award the participant with more points as the difficulty of the pushup increases. 

 

Requirements:

Toilet roll or a 15 cm ruler must be kept erect under the participant’s chest to ensure uniformity of how low participants go.

Rules:

  1. The participants hands should be at a full extension when coming up.

  2. The participant is given 30 seconds to do as many reps as possible.

  3. Pushups need not be continuous (just maximum possible in the 30 second interval)

  4. Refer to the general rules for timing guidelines and the participant should follow them accordingly

  5. Participant’s chest should touch the toilet roll or ruler for every rep or it will not count.

  6. If a ruler or toilet roll is not in the video, it won't be considered.

  7. Any pushups after 30 seconds will not be considered. 

Challenge #2: Skipping

Overview:

The participant must obtain the most number of points they can by performing the most number of skips in the given time of 30 seconds. There are different variations of skips that can be performed which will award the participant with more points as the difficulty of the skip increases. 

 

Requirements:

Use of a standard Gym skipping rope (competitive skipping rope or a wire will be considered)

FOOTBALL

Event 1 - Alternating Feet Juggles

 

Overview: 

The participant will be given 1 minute to perform the highest number of alternating feet juggles as they can without the ball coming in contact with the ground or any other body part.

 

Rules:

  1. The ball may not touch the ground or any body part besides both feet; juggles performed without using the feet will not be counted.

  2. Participants are to juggle a fully pumped size 5 football.

  3. Juggles must be done with both legs, alternating within each repetition.

  4. 1 minute will be given to juggle the football as many times as possible.

  5. Refer to the general rules for timing guidelines and the player should follow them accordingly. 

  6. There is no restriction on the height of the ball when juggling.

  7. Refer to the general rules for guidelines on positioning and the participant should follow them accordingly.


 

Event 2 - Head Juggles

 

Overview: 

The participant aims to perform the highest number of head juggles they can without the ball coming in contact with the ground or any other body part.

 

Rules:

  1. The ball may not in any part touch the ground or any body part besides the head; juggles performed without using the feet will not be counted.

  2. Participants are to head juggle any fully pumped size 5 football.

  3. Juggles must be consecutively without breaks.

  4. There is no restriction on the height of the ball when head juggling.

  5. There is no time limit for this event. 

  6. Refer to the general rules for guidelines on positioning and the participant should follow them accordingly.

HOCKEY

Overview:

Participants will be given 1 minute to perform the highest number of around the world juggles they can using a traditional hockey stick. An around the world juggle involves the stick doing a full circle around the ball in the air.

 

Rules:

  1. The ball may not in any part touch the ground or any part of the body.

  2. Juggles must be done with the flat side of the stick only.

  3. Refer to the general rules for timing guidelines; the participant should follow them accordingly. 

  4. Refer to the general rules for guidelines on positioning; the participant should follow them accordingly.

  5. There is no limit as to how high the ball can go when juggling.

  6. 1 point is allotted every time the participant moves their stick in a circle around the ball while it is in the air. 

  7. If the ball falls, the contestant can pick it up and resume. Time will not be paused while the ball is being picked up.

  8. Normal air juggles are allowed to gain control, but will not be counted toward the final tally. 

TABLE TENNIS

Overview: 

The participant will have to juggle a table tennis ball alternating the faces(front/red, back/black and side) of a standard table tennis racket as many times as possible in the given time of 30 seconds..

 

Rules:

  1. Participants must use a standard table tennis racquet and a table tennis ball.

  2. Participants may only use one racquet and one hand.

  3. Participants must either juggle with the red face, the black face and any of the sides in that order or the black face, the red face and any of the sides in that order

  4. 1 point will be awarded for each repetition of the rotation.

  5. If the order is not followed a point will not be rewarded.

  6. The ball cannot touch any part of the racquet apart from the handle and cannot touch any part of the participant’s body.

  7. Refer to the general rules for guidelines on positioning; the participant should follow them accordingly.

  8. Refer to the general rules for timing guidelines; the participant should follow them accordingly

  9. The participant is given 30 seconds to do as many juggles as possible.

  10. Any juggles after the end of this time frame will not be considered. 

  11. If the ball is dropped, the participant is allowed to pick it up and continue.

TENNIS

Overview: 

The participant will have to bounce a tennis ball as many times as possible on the frame of a tennis racquet without the ball touching the ground or any of the participant’s body parts. 

 

Rules: 

  1. The participant may choose to use any tennis racquet with a frame size of at least 27 inches.

  2. The tennis racquet must be turned sideways so that the strings of the racquet are perpendicular to the ground.

  3. The ball must be bounced on the head of the racquet or on the region between the head of the racquet and the grip. 

  4. The ball may not touch the ground or any body part.

  5. There is no restriction on the height of the ball when juggling the ball.

  6. Refer to the general rules for guidelines on positioning and the participant should follow them accordingly.

VOLLEYBALL

Overview:

The participant  will be given 2 minutes to complete the most number of the complete passing drill they can. The passing drill consists of 3 parts -

Part 1: Pitch the ball and keep it in the air using overhand passes.

Part 2: Convert to underhand passes and slowly go down until one knee touches the ground, and then come back up using underhand passes.

Part 3: The last overhand pass completes one repetition. 

 

Rules:

  1. The participant may choose to use any volleyball of choice with the standard size 5.

  2. A maximum of 3 touches can be used for part 1 of the drill.

  3. A maximum of 6 touches can be used for part 2 of the drill.  

  4. Participants will be judged on the maximum repetitions they can perform in 2 minutes without any breaks in between. 

  5. The knee has to come fully in contact with the ground.

  6. One overhand pass after coming back up completes one cycle and the next overhand pass will begin the next, so make sure to keep in mind the number of touches - a violation would result in disqualification. 

  7. Refer to the general rules for guidelines on positioning; the participant should follow them accordingly.

  8. The ball may not touch any other body part apart from the participant’s hands. Using the head, leg, or shoulder for passes is not permitted. 

  9. There is no restriction on the height of the ball while completing the passes. 

  10. Refer to the general rules for timing guidelines; the participant should follow them accordingly.
